First Anniversary Celebration of ISRT Academic Club Trivandrum

First Anniversary Celebration of ISRT Academic Club Trivandrum and Regional CME at Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram.

The first anniversary of ISRT Academic club Trivandrum was celebrated with a Continuing Medical Education Programme on “Latest Developments in Radiology Technology” at Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram on 9th August 2015. As all of us Know Academic Club Trivandrum is the pilot Academic club of ISRT. In the first year itself the club conducted 10 academic meets with more than 20 presentations by the budding technologists.

The anniversary celebration and CME was inaugurated by Dr.Paul Sebastian, Director of Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram in a function presided over by Dr.K.Ramachandran, Professor and Head of Imageology Division of Regional Cancer Centre. Mr.S.Sunilkumar, the Organising Chairman of the event welcomed the gathering. In his welcome speech he elaborated the functions of the club. Dr. Ramachandran in his presidential address insisted about the need of conducting Continuing Medical Education programmes among Technological community. Inaugurating the function Dr. Paul Sebastian mentioned about the role of technologists in getting good quality images and delivering accurate radiation treatment. Dr. V.M.Pradeep, Professor of Nuclear Medicine, Dr.Reghuram K.Nair, Professor of Radiation Physics, Regional Cancer Centre, and Mr.P.C.Anoop, Secretary, ISRT Kerala Chapter facilitated the function.

After the inaugural function there was a feast of academic presentations. Mr. Mahesh P.S.(Senior Technologist, SCTIMST), Dr.V.M.Pradeep(Professor and Head of Nuclear Medicine, RCC), Dr.Sumod Mathew Koshy (Associate Professor, Imageology, RCC), Mrs.Sunithakumari U.P(Senior Technologist, RCC), Dr.Santhoshkumar V.S.(Associate Professor, Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram), Dr.Anand Bherwani(Mumbai), Dr.Sajeed S.(Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology, RCC), Mrs. Geetha Shibu(Technologist, Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram) were the faculties. The topics include latest developments in Diagnostic Radiology, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine. In the afternoon session there was a quiz competition for technologists. Mr.Prasad P.P., Technical Officer, Regional Cancer Centre was the quiz master. After a tight competition Rahul Paramesh and Sinimol L. of Medical College Thiruvananthapuram grabbed the first prize. Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram and Malabar Cancer Centre, Thalasseri came in second and third position.

It was memorable day for all the 150 delegates who attended the CME. The function was a great success and was appreciated for its simplicity. Talks by experts and also by young voices made the CME a very memorable one. It was great opportunity to discuss and update the knowledge. The CME provided a platform for intelligent discussions and debates on important topics. As a token of love and appreciation all delegates were gifted with mementoes of ISRT Academic Club Anniversary.
